The culture of a nation cannot be separated from the process of human education. In this educational process, ideas produced will later form a noble culture. “Culture and education must operate in a dialectic bound to each other, but both must be able to grow in continuity,” the dean of FPIPSKR, Dr.Agus Sutono, M.Phil said on November, 23 2022.

Agus gave a speech at the VII National Seminar on Indonesianness, with the theme Dialectics of Culture in Building Education. Agus said, this seminar aims to sharpen and deepen our Indonesianness, especially in the basic context of Pancasila. “In every aspect of life, Indonesianness must always be contextualized according to the times. Culture and education are two things that must always receive attention, because they are related to changing times. Studies on education and culture can be used as a way of responding to our national situation today.”

Agreeing with Agus, Halim HD as one of the speakers at the seminar emphasized the importance of dialectics between culture and education. “Conceptually, there is a synergistic relationship between culture and education. We cannot see culture and education separately. Both are dialectical without having to conflict,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Rector of UPGRIS Dr. Sri Suciati, M.Hum, emphasized the importance of looking back at the concept of education by Ki Hajar Dewantara. “The concept of Taman Siswa Ki Hajar Dewantara is important for revitalization. The role of the teacher is very important. Teachers who make students happy to come to school. Quality education that creates a civilized culture.”

The national seminar was held online and offline. The number of participants who attended was 1088. Meanwhile, 254 authors presented their scientific work in the form of proceedings. The seminar presented professional speakers, including Halim HD (humanist), Prof. Fakhruddin (Unnes), and Prof. Wawan Sundawan Suherman (UNY)
